The Chelsea manager, Roberto Di Matteo, has spoken out about next months exploits, including the FIFA Club World Cup, which will mean his team will play a total of 9 games in December.
This years Club World Cup is being played in Japan, and the long trip will add to the demands put on his squad.
The Italian coach stated: “It will certainly put a big strain on the team, because it is a trip to the other side of the world with different time zones while the Premier League is still playing on. We will have to deal with that. But we have got a big enough squad that I think we should be able to cope with it.”
Petr Cech himself insists he is happy with the clubs exploits in the World Club Cup, saying: “I am glad I will have the opportunity to go there. Obviously it will make our fixtures here a bit more complicated,”
With games in the League, Capital One Cup, Champions League, as well as the World Club Cup coming up in December, there is no doubt some of the fringe players will get some game time and I´d like to see Oriol Romeu stake a claim for more first team action, as well as giving Daniel Sturridge game time in which I hope he can hit some form. I just hope Roberto can rotate the team right to keep the team fresh and full of confidence and bring the Cup home!
