Kevin De Bruyne has told reporters he expects to return to Chelsea once his loan spell at Werder Bremen is up, insisting a loan deal is not an option.
The Belgian was bought from Belgian side Genk this summer but he went staright out on loan to German side Werder Bremen. The 21 year old has made an impressive start to life in Germany playing 4 games and scoring 2 goals in the process and now De Bruyne is being looked at as one of the best of the next generation of footballers.
De Bruyne told German newspaper Bild; “I know that I will have to return to Chelsea FC. They are convinced of my qualities.”
“There will be no chance for Werder Bremen to snap me up or to extend the loan spell further.”
“I am of the belief that I have everything needed to break through at a club the size of Chelsea FC. I am able to play good football even at such a club.”
The comments seem strange considering he has only just joined his parent club Chelsea and therefore it would be unlikely they would be thinking of selling him already, so perhaps his comments suggest that Werder Bremen have contacted Chelsea about a possible permanent transfer after the youngsters impressive start in the Bundesliga. Werder Bremen are still looking for a player to replace Marko Marin – who also joined the European Champions this summer.
