Napoli are causing Chelsea problems with their transfer targets while Torres scores again

Not only are Napoli winning their battle to hold on to their star striker Edison Cavani, they are trying to beat Chelsea to the signature of Mehdi Benatia. The 25-year old defender is wanted by Liverpool and Arsenal but Roberto Di Matteo was confident of capturing him, apparently.

His club, Udinese, are already in talks with Napoli, according to Talksport. The Moroccan international is valued at around £8 million and might not be an instant part of the Chelsea first team but Di Matteo is very impressed and thinks he could be a future star. He will need to move quickly if he is really keen.

The Uruguayan striker Edison Cavani has been scoring goals for fun since joining Napoli two years ago. He has made 47 appearances in both seasons, and scored 33 goals both times. His style of play and obvious finishing qualities could make him an ideal replacement for Didier Drogba, but it seems that Napoli have convinced him to stay at the Italian club.

“I just think of Napoli. I am not leaving for another club this summer. I will continue here. I have four years left on my contract and I am very confident about my future.” Cavani told El Pais.

There is still no confirmation about the signing of Brazilian striker/winger, Hulk, from Porto. Chelsea need to replace Drogba sooner rather than later, as they have also let Salomon Kalou leave after his contract expire.

Some good news on the striking front for Chelsea is the form of Fernando Torres. He scored an excellent couple of goals against Ireland in Euro 2012 to cap a very good performance. He could be like a new player next season, but who will play alongside him?
