Carlo Ancelotti didn’t think that his Chelsea team did anything else other than a normal days work despite winning 6-0 in their opening Premier League game against West Brom, and he even praised the strikers for being active in the defence!

West Brom could not have got a harder start to the Premiership experience by being given a visit to Stamford Bridge, where the Double winners are nigh on invincible.

Although Florent Malouda opened the scoring in the 5th minute, Didier Drogba scored yet another hat-trick in his quest for a second consecutive Golden Boot, just as he did against Wigan.

The Brazilian midfielder Ramires has finally completed his £18m transfer from Benfica, but it is just too late to be included in this evenings match against West Brom, but hopefully he will get his first outing against Wigan next weekend.

Ramires said: “Every player in the world would love to play for Chelsea and it’s a great opportunity.”

Roman Abramovich’s cutbacks are certainly taking their toll at Chelsea as the Russian billionaire is trying to make the club profitable. It seems that he has now cut everyone’s incentives so they only get paid out if Chelsea WIN something. Coming second doesn’t get a reward any more.

The World Champions Spain put out a makeshift team for this meaningless friendly and nearly paid the price when they went behind to an excellent goal from Javier Hernandez, but luckily substitute David Silva popped up in the last minute to save the day.

The Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho has joined Real Madrid today for a fee of £6.7m this morning, it has been revealed on the Blues official website.

“Chelsea can confirm it has agreed terms with Real Madrid for the transfer of Carvalho,” the statement said.

“The transfer is subject to a medical and the player agreeing personal terms. Chelsea would like to thank Riccy for his six years of service, and we wish him well in his future career.”

Left ashamed, mistaken, sorry (and probably fired!), the editor of La Repubblica (the Italian newspaper) is extremely sorry he decided to approve an article that publicly accused Roman Abramovich of having a gambling problem.

The Russian billionaire and Chelsea owner, Abramovich, was alleged to have lost his luxury 500,000 Euro yacht in a friendly poker game. The article also stated that (allegedly) Abramovich and his long term partner, Dasha Zhukova, suffered a crisis in their relationship as a result of Abramovich’s gambling problem.
