The Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge has been playing through the pain of an ankle injury, but feels that he is now approaching his best at last. He played a part in yesterdays Community Shield, and looked quite good for an injured player!

“It is good to get some fitness from the game, and we’ll come back in the week and try and put things right,” he said.

The spokesman for the Chinese corporation that is close to taking over Liverpool Football Club has promised that they will wipe out Liverpool’s debt, and give them the ransfer funds to make them one of the biggest clubs in the world again.

Marc Ganis, a partner in Sportscorp China Ltd said today: “The key question is, what would we get from an investment in Liverpool? The answer is long-term growth, while we position the club with the biggest in global football,” he said.

The Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho admitted that he was keen on buying Ashley Cole from Chelsea, but he says that he has accepted the response from Carlo Ancelotti that Cole is not for sale.

“We thought about him because he’s a good player who I enjoyed working with. But when a coach says ‘no’ it’s no, and we have to accept that,” Mourinho said. “Carlo Ancelotti was very, very clear … he killed the story saying, no money can buy Ashley Cole,”

The Community Shield is looming just a week away, and Carlo Ancelotti is not happy at all with the fitness of his team so close to the start of the season. Luckily Chelsea’s opening League games are not against the best teams so hopefully it will give the squad time to regain their fitness, but it looks like we can only expect a training match mentality against United on Sunday.
