£30m BID ACCEPTED, Chelsea On The VERGE Of Signing Blaise Matuidi

John Obi MikelThe Paris based French club are reported to be ready to accept a £30 million bid for French international midfielder Blaise Matuidi. Speculation had been rife that the former St Etienne captain was looking to leave the capital club in search of a new challenge and it is thought that he has found what he is looking for in London club, Chelsea.

His signing may mean the end of the road for Nigerian, John Mikel Obi at Chelsea. The midfielder will complete 10 years at Stamford Bridge by the end of the season, he is the second longest serving player in the current team, behind captain John Terry.

The midfielder is likely to occupy one of the two deep lying midfield positions and it shouldn’t only be the Nigerian who is worried about his role. Serbian, Nemanja Matic and Brazilian, Ramires haven’t really been in the best of forms especially Matic who is a completely shadow of the player who dominated every midfield across the country last season.

Another point to examine if this transfer goes through is the role of youngster, Reuben Loftus Cheek. The midfielder is said to be the most promising talent out of the Chelsea Academy since John Terry. Signing Matuidi will consign him to the bench and this may not go down well with the Chelsea faithful.

The player has made 14 starts in the league this season, with a further 3 appearances off the substitutes bench scoring 3 goals and recording 2 assists.

It is worthy of note that this player will be cup tied and won’t be able to play for Chelsea in the Champions league where intriguingly, Chelsea will be going head to head with PSG in the 2nd round.
