If you believe the reports in the Spanish media, it is only a matter of time before Chelsea announces the signing of Atletico Madrid’s Antonie Griezmann. The Spanish media claims the player has ACCEPTED he will be on his way to Chelsea and all thats left is for his current club’s hierarchy to sign off the deal.
In the last few weeks, the Frenchman who has been one of Atletic’s shinning light in the la liga this season been linked to Chelsea. It was reported that Chelsea director Michael Emenalo had flown to Spain to hold negotiating with Atletico and the representatives of the player.
Should this new reports that the player would like to team up with his former team mates Courtios and Diego Costa be true ( Luis Filipe is reportedly on his way back to Spain as part of the deal ), it means Chelsea has made significant success in their attempt to sign the Frenchman as knowing Atletico, they are very unlikely to object to the wish of the player if he wants out.
Also, considering only last summer they paid £24 million to sign him and are about to receive £43.5 million to sell him, they would know they can invest the money in their squad.
Griezmann has been Atletico’s best player this season having scored a total of 25 goals and created 4 assists in 38 games.
