Many of this week’s Chelsea transfer rumours have spotlighted the Benfica winger Angel Di Maria as being top of Frank Arnesen’s list of expected arrivals in January.
The highly talented 21 year-old came to Portugal from Rosario in Argentina two years ago, and was one of the stars when Argentina won last year’s Olympics alongside Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Javier Mascherano.
He is young, talented, and it seems that “important teams” are have already approahed Benfica.
The Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira said yesterday: “There are offers from several important teams. Our goal is to win the championship and we can only achieve this if we keep our best players.
“But I admit maybe we should sell the player.”
He would certainly make an impressive addition to Chelsea’s star-studded midfield.
