According to reports by high reliable Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Chelsea are matter of hours away from completing their first summer signing. According to the paper, Chelsea will announce the signing of Nathan from Atletico Paranaense after the youngster agreed to join Chelsea. Porto was initially thought to have hijacked Chelsea in the bid to sign the Brazilian but A Bola sources think otherwise.
Just few weeks ago the Brazilian media broke the news of a supposed €8m between Atletico Paranaense and Chelsea. It was initially reports that Atletico Paranaense were not keen on accepting payments in instalments which was what Chelsea favoured but according to A Bola, the fact that Chelsea will be offering them more money in the long run has helped.
Legal tussles has delayed the deal so far. According to sources in Brazil, a Brazilian court had to settle disputes between the player’s family and Atletico Paranaense after his family disagreed with contract stipulations by Atletico. The initial disagreement had encouraged Porto to move for the player but if A Bola’s sources are right, it is game over for Porto.
Nathan had earlier yesterday confirmed he has had medicals with Chelsea and is looking forward to joining the club.
