Chelsea stopper Petr Cech is sure that the front two in Ancelotti’s new 4-4-2 formation will strike fear into all their opponents at home and in Europe this season, starting with the game against Man Utd tomorrow.
“We have a front two that will worry everyone in the Premier League and in Europe.
“One is the former best scorer in the league and the other is last season’s top scorer and if you count the goals together, it is a great striking force.
“The season is long and we will need everyone to score goals, but if they score in every game it will be great for us. It is a perfect combination. You can see that they play and co-operate well together.
“One has the pace and the intelligence, the other has everything to help him get the ball, open the space or score goals.
“It’s been great to see them play the way they have in pre-season, with their quality. We can see what’s going to be the plan.”
With Claudio Pizarro back in the fold after having a great year on loan to Werder Bremen, and the young Daniel Sturridge ready to step up when he is given the chance, and even Salomon Kalou as supersub, Chelsea have at last got strength in depth in attack, something that has been missing in the last few seasons.
Will this be the year that Chelsea finally start scoring goals for fun and make it their trademark?
