According to reports coming out of Holland, Chelsea are on the verge of signing the 22 year-old Ajax star Luis Suarez ahead of a reported offer from Tottenham Hotspur.
Man Utd were reported to be tracking the Uruguayan midfielder last week.
The reports say that the agent of Suarez, Daniel Fonseca, has told the media that personal terms have been agreed with the Premiership leaders, and now all that remains is for the two clubs to agree a fee.
Suarez was reported by SkySports as scoring 23 times in just 22 games this season for Ajax, and is hotly tipped as a superstar of the future.
It has also been rumoured that Ajax were looking for a ridiculous 50m euros for Suarez, but it is surely unlikely that Chelsea would pay anywhere near that amount. Fonseca said last week: “Luis is a player liked by many clubs. Is it true his Dutch club want €50 million for him? I don’t know, you’ll have to ask them.”
