The Blues are however, not the only club after his signature with Atletico Madrid of Spain also rumoured to be interested.
In news that is grabbing the headlines in the last few days, Atletico Madrid striker, Diego Costa is said to be in talks with the Blues over a possible move to Stanford Bridge in the summer. Atletico’s manager, Diego Simeone spoke about the rumour, which has gathered pace in the past few days:
“It depends on what [Diego Costa] believes is best for his future,” said the Argentine, who has really transformed the Spanish club in the last few seasons.
“I will support any decision,” he added, according to a quote in AS.
“It is normal that Chelsea are interested in him. They have good economic potential. [Samuel] Eto’o is getting older and Diego Costa can do his work, but right now he’s ours.”
For a player, who has scored 26 times in 30 appearances for his Spanish La Liga club, it is a big step in his career. He is currently valued at £31 Million by the club, and has the ability to prove his worth wherever he ends up this season, as Arsenal have also been linked with his signature.
Finally, on Chelsea news roundup is the speculation surrounding Everton’s 19 year old defender; John Stones, who is linked to both Chelsea and Arsenal.
Roberto Martinez has however, come out to deny such rumour:
“I haven’t heard about [that]. It’s a good sign. It’s not bad for a young man that is just starting his career. Stones has been phenomenal.”
Hopefully, we can seal Costa’s signature before the end of the summer as most of us can’t wait to see him in the famous blue colour of the club.
