Chelsea and their fans can now bury the thoughts of signing one of Italia Serie A’s revelation of the season MAURO ICARDI. This is after reports claim yesterday that Icardi has decided to stay in the Serie A with Inter Milan instead of seek a move away from the club in the summer as it was been initially reported by both the English and Italian media.
The Argentine was reportedly on his way to the premier league next summer with Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool all said to be in the running for his signature. According to the express who claim their source is Sport Mediaset, a deal has been agreed in principle that will see the player extend his current deal with Inter Milan.
As part of the deal, the player will be allowed to keep his image rights and he will get a special bonus for his performance for Inter Milan so far this season. Speaking earlier this month, the player had confirmed he is open to staying with Milan and as well as ready to leave should the club decide to sell him;
“I still have three years, and if we can find an agreement then everyone’s going to be happy.
“If other clubs want me, they have to talk about it with Inter. If the club wants to sell me, I’ll pack my bags and go.
“Otherwise, I’ll stay in Milan, as I really like it here and I’m happy. My family feels at home here.”
However, despite signing a new contract, it will not surprise me in the least if Chelsea still try to sign him in the summer. It is not uncommon to see players signing a new contract and then leave the club months later. Our own Fabregas extended his deal with Arsenal and under a year, left the club for Barca from where he came HOME.
