According to daily express, Chelsea are ready to make a move for France under 20 defender Damien Dussaut who has been termed the new Emmanuel Petit by a section of the French media. The 20 year old defender can play both as a left back and centre back. He joined Belgian side Standard Liege from Valenciennes at the start of the current football season.
He reportedly has two and half years more to go on his contract but this has not stopped Chelsea from trying to sign the player. Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on the player having got good reports from Chelsea scouts who have watched the player play a couple of times.
However, it must be pointed out that the player has only played five times this season for Standard Liege due partly to injury problems and the lack of form. He has also been linked with a move to Tottenham in the past as well. Although it is not clear if Tottenham are still interested in signing him.
Should Chelsea succeed in getting him, they will reportedly send him on loan to one of their partner clubs Mouscron or Vitesse Arnheim as he is seen to be far from first team material but one for the future.
