Chelsea Set To Sign £50,000-A-Week Defender – Terry Replacement?

Angelo-Ogbonna

Chelsea has reportedly moved for Juventus defender Angelo Ogbonna. The Blues are making move to bring the central back to Stamford bridge. Ogbonna who is of Nigerian descent has been on extraordinary form for the old ladies this season. His strong physical attributes, vision, technique, and ball skills have made him the complete central back that he is. Mourinho is keen on strengthening his squad towards next season, and Ogbonna has been recently considered an option.

John Terry is likely to be released when their contract expires, which is soon. And the 26 years old who is available for 10 million is a worthy replacement for him. The former Torino player, who can also play at left back as well as centre good with distribution of the ball and strong in tackle. At Juventus this season, he has featured in 26 games displaying tenacity and firmness. The player was signed by the Serie A champions back in 2013 for 13 million Euros, and has been a regular member of the squad since.

Although at the moment, a defender isn’t of top priority at Stamford bridge, but the Coach is a perfectionist, and a defender who can compete with the current central backs for first shirt, is a welcome development for the special one. The team showed some defensive lapses during the UEFA champions league, which made them lose out a quarter final spot to PSG. And with the urge to perform better during the next continental campaign, Mourinho wants to assemble a very formidable team, which an Angelo Ogbonna can be part of.
