Chelsea have been sending scouts to Sweden to watch the Brazilian midfielder Wanderson, who is regarded as an up-and-coming superstar
The 23 year-old has scored an impressive 17 goals in 29 games for GAIS in the Swdeish Allsvenskan this season, a brilliant tally for a midfielder, and it seems the club are desperate for cash and will let their star go for a cut-price £3m.
Wanderson knows that Chelsea had representatives at GAIS’ last game of the season, and expressed his happiness after the match.
“I was overjoyed when I heard that Chelsea where there to look at me,” Wanderson said. “Chelsea is a club that I really could consider playing for.”
The GAIS chairman Christer Wallin that many clubs were watching Wanderson, and indicated he would welcome a bid.
“I’ve heard (about Chelsea), but didn’t receive confirmation,” Wallin told Swedish daily Fotbolls Expressen. “There should also have been two Dutch clubs there.
“For a large part of the season, often there have been four or five clubs were watching.
“It’s been a tough year financially, we need to sell a player.”
“For three million we are willing to let Wanderson go,” said another GAIS director, Sebastian Arby, and Wanderson is waiting for an offer to come in.
“I have a contract with GAIS, but I know there is interest from some clubs in other countries. We must wait until there is a bid.”
At a price like that, it is surely worth taking a risk on bringing him to the Premiership?
