Barcelona of Span have made Chelsea’s David Luiz their transfer priority as they hope to sign a replacement for aging Charles Puyol.
As the winter transfer window approaches, chiefs at the Spanish giant have considered the Brazilian defender as the man to help shore up their defence, which has been a major worry this season. David Luiz is one name that has not stopped resurfacing in the media, and it is believed that the Spanish club are set to put in a bid for his signature.
The player was quoted in the Metro as expressing his interest in signing for a club that “controls the ball.”
‘My objective is to be happy and this is possible by playing in a team that controls the ball,’ said Luiz.
This week alone, the defender has been linked with a move to the Catalan club who are willing to pay as high as £25 Million for his signature. Chelsea are not desperate to sell a player they hold in high esteem; but of course, it could well depend on the player’s ability to also want to stay or leave.
David Luiz has been very impressive for the Blues since joining from Benfica. His ability to overlap and join in the attack has helped us a lot in this season and the one before it. Should he decide to leave for Barca at the end of the season or even in the winter; Chelsea may not struggle to replace him.
The club according to reports and various rumours are on the verge of signing Kurt Zouma of Saint Etienne of France. The strong and highly energetic defender is one of the most exciting young defenders in Europe, and is on course to join a big team very spoon; with Chelsea is possible destination.
The Catalan giant was rumoured to be interested in the player’s signature last summer; but had to back-out due to Chelsea’s asking price, which was put at €35 Million at that time. It is obvious like I already said earlier that Chelsea is not in a hurry to do away with the services of the highly rated defender.
