As per reports from the Mirror, Atletico Madrid have launched a massive bid to bring their former striker, Diego Costa back to the Spanish capital. The Spanish giants are aiming at quickly swooping for the unsettled Spanish international. However, Chelsea have rejected the bid as they are keen on keeping hold of their number one striker.
Diego Costa was linked to a possible exit from the Blues towards the end of the reign of Portuguese tactician, Jose Mourinho and Atletico Madrid indicated their interest to acquire the service of the Brazil-born forward, but the arrival of Guus Hiddink has ushered in good form for the striker and the team is now set to stick to him. Diego Costa has scored 3 times in the 3 games he has played since the departure of Jose Mourinho. The 27-year old Spaniard scored a total of 20 goals in all competitions for Chelsea last season.
Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simone has reiterated his desire to bring the player back to Vicente Calderon as they thrive to win as many trophies as possible at the end of the season. They are currently 1st in La liga, though they have played a game more than the defending champions, FC Barcelona.
Atletico Madrid are considering offloading Colombia international Jackson Martinez; however, they may have to change their decision on the Colombian since Diego Costa will not be available to replace him. Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspurs are some of the teams interested in acquiring the 29-year old Colombian striker.
