Moyes – I can't say Rodwell won't leave, but Chelsea haven't made an offer!

The Everton manager David Moyes has responded to the persistent rumours that his England U21 star Jack Rodwell is being chased by both Chelsea and Man Utd, as has been reported in the papers for the last fortnight.

Referring to the Joleon Lescott saga in the summer, when he was adamant that Man City would not buy the England defender at any price, he admitted that he couldn’t say that Rodwell was definitely going to stay at Goodison Park.

“You could come and look at my desk, check my phones to see if I have had any calls from Manchester United, or Chelsea, or whoever.” Moyes said.

“We have had nothing. It is hard for me to turn round and say he will not be leaving, because I said I would not sell [Joleon] Lescott, but have we had any contact with a club, or are we sitting on an offer? No,”

I find it a bit strange that he didn’t say that he didn’t WANT to sell Rodwell, at least. Perhaps he inviting offers?
