The Arsenal legend Paul Merson believes that Chelsea could tie up the Premiership title in the next few weeks if they win their two away games at Arsenal and Man City.
“Every footballer supporter loves watching Arsenal because they play the sort of football you want to see.” Merson said.
“But despite that I genuinely think Chelsea could put the title race to bed in the next week. If they go to the Emirates and beat Arsenal and then go and beat Man City away at Eastlands it will be all over.
“I’m not saying they will win both of those games, but if they do I think you might as well put their name on the trophy.
“People talk about January when Chelsea lose their African players to the Cup of Nations, but if you look at the fixtures for that period Carlo Ancelotti couldn’t have wished for any better.
“They play Hull City, Sunderland, Birmingham City and Burnley in January and you couldn’t hand-pick a much nicer set of games. There’s no big six-pointers there and I’d still expect them to get results without the likes of Didier Drogba and Michael Essien.
“Things do look really good for Chelsea, but let’s not forget they were getting ripped apart by Wigan not so long ago, so they’re not unbeatable.”
I always said that Paul Merson knew what he was talking about!
