The FIFA president Sepp Blatter has agreed that the errors made by the referees at this World Cup have been ‘deplorable’ and has made an official apology to both England and Mexico for the goal decisions that changed their respective games.
He has also said that the question of goal-line technology will be discussed again later this month when FIFA meet in Wales.

Chelsea have asked the Court of Arbitration for Sport to suspend their ban on registering players until after the appeal has been decided. This could mean that Chelsea will be able to sign players in January if the appeal hasn’t been finalised by then.
“Both Chelsea FC and (Gael) Kakuta have requested that the FIFA decision be stayed pending the outcome of the CAS arbitration,” a CAS statement read.

Chelsea believe that they have enough evidence to get the transfer ban by FIFA overturned, according to a report in todays News of The World.
The article said: CHELSEA will produce evidence from the FA which they claim can clear their name in the Gael Kakuta ‘tapping up’ controversy.
The club are still waiting for FIFA to explain why they were given a double transfer window ban before launching their appeal.

I have just found this article from the Press association, which states that Chelsea are not even allowed to recall their players from loan agreements with other clubs, despite not being able to buy any replacements in the January transfer window.
The article said: FIFA have told Chelsea they cannot recall any players on season-long loans under the terms of their transfer ban.

The FIFA ban on Chelsea buying any new players is to be appealed by the club, but it has been revealed by Matthieu Reeb, secretary general for the Court of Arbitration for Sport, that the result may not be decided until just before Christmas.
Reeb said: “If the appeal is fielded within the deadline of the next 21 days we should have the appeal in the next two or three weeks. Then the CAS can proceed in an extradited manner depending on whether the party has agreed to extradite the procedure,”

The ex-Chelsea winger Arjen Robben is feeling sorry for his old club, and thinks that they will struggle because they can’t sign any new players.
Robben has just joined Bayern Munich from Real Madrid and still has a place in his heart for the Blues, and he is worried about the effect this ban could have on his old team.

Chelsea have gone to the trouble to issue an official response to the decision by CAS to reject Adrian Mutu’s appeal. Here is the statement in full, published on their website:
Chelsea has released the following statement:
‘Chelsea welcomes the decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport to dismiss the appeal by Adrian Mutu and uphold the financial award by FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber in favour of the club.
‘This vindicates all of our actions throughout this case.’
Hardly worth bothering really!

The ongoing case of Chelsea v Adrian Mutu has finally reached a conclusion, and the Court of Arbitration for Sport has decided that he must pay the full £14.6m compensation owed to his old club.
After rejecting all the legal arguments put forward in Mutu’s defence, the CAS issued this statement: “In his appeal to the CAS, Adrian Mutu sought to set aside the DRC decision and establish that no compensation was due to be paid by him to Chelsea FC.

It is likely that Chelsea are going to be awarded £13.68m in compensation from Adrian Mutu on Friday when the final ruling on his appeal will be announced.
Mutu was signed for £15m in 2003 but just a year later he was tested positive for cocaine, sacked by Chelsea and given a seven month ban from football.
