Chelsea veteran Frank Lampard is said to have turned down a huge £250K a week two-year deal at Guizhou Renhe, Where Didier Drogba and Nicholas Anelka are currently plying their trade.

The Chinese Super League side declared that they had signed the Chelsea legend on their official website, claiming he would be becoming their club captain.

A Chinese source said: ‘The contract offered to Lampard was amazing and he would have been treated like a God out there. It would have been a great adventure for him.

‘But although there were a lot of talks, he would never give a definite ‘yes’ and a couple of weeks ago Guizhou Renhe finally gave up.’

The Chinese Super League begins in March, and runs through until December, and the club had hoped to sign Frank Lampard from March.

Franky has decided he wants to fight it out at Chelsea until the last day, and has been in fine form of late. He has 5 goals in his last 7 matches, and has every fan chanting his name during games.

Lampard joined Chelsea in 2011 from West Ham, quickly becoming a club favourite. He has won every club competition with the Blues available to English clubs, apart from the Europa League, World Club Cup and European Super Cup.

We are firmly expected to let Ashley Cole and Lampard leave at the end of the season regardless of their form this season. Frank is now 34, and Roman as instilled a new philosophy on the squad’s age. Some believe this new regime is because of the FFP which comes into rule next season. Maybe Franky could take a bit of a pay-cut to stay?

Chelsea no.1 Petr Cech has refused to accept that Frank Lampard has no chance of being offered an extension to his contract, despite reports suggesting he has been told to leave.

Lampard has been in fine form for the Blues in recent weeks, scoring 5 goals in his last 7 games.

Despite his recent form, reports emanating out of the Bridge suggest the England veteran’s future has already been decided, with Roman Abramovich more than happy to let the 34 year-old go.

Cech said: “There is still six months to go until the end of the season and we will see then whether he stays or not.

“If he keeps playing like that then obviously he will keep asking about an extension.

“He’s been here a long time and seen good and times. That shows the loyalty of the player.”

The Czech keeper added: “He might not play every game but when he plays he has been fantastic. At Stoke Frank could have had another two goals.”

Franky could have scored a hat-trick in the weekend’s game away at Stoke, but only managed to net a second-half penalty in another dominant display by the Chelsea legend.

Rafa refused to single out the experienced midfielder for praise, saying: “It’s not fair. I think the rest of the team is doing a great job.

“Frank is a great player but we have to praise the rest of the players at the same time.”

I hope the press are getting this all wrong. I’m glad that I am yet to get word that Lampard’s agent has been in talks with any clubs, which leads me to think that he is concentrated on his football for us. The ideal professional, that Roman would be stupid to allow to leave.

Chelsea scored 4 goals in their 4-0 demolition of Stoke City today, giving the hosts their first home loss since February of last year.

Chelsea have to thank Stoke’s Jonathan Walters for their first two goals, with two defensive headers beating Begovic in the hosts goal on the stroke of half time, and then again just after the hour mark.

Juan Mata was tackled in the box by Robert Huth, and went down quite easily (it has to be said) to earn the penalty on 65. Frank Lampard steps up, and pounds the ball into the roof of the net, with the keeper having no chance.

Eden Hazard scored a spectacular fourth, from just outside the box. He turns with the ball on his left, and lashes it into the top-left hand corner in the 71st minute.

John Terry made his first appearance under Rafa Benitez today, coming off the bench for Juan Mata with just over 10 minutes of normal time remaining, pushing Luiz up into midfield.

The Chelsea captain had very little to do, but still managed to concede a penalty to the Chelsea match-winner, Walters. The Stoke striker stepped up to ease his torrid day, only to sky the penalty way over the crossbar. A day he will try to forget for weeks…

Frank Lampard again played well, further confusing players and fans alike as to why Roman Abramovich should wish to let him go. He is a part of Chelsea, and is showing he still has plenty to offer the club.

You would have to say that 4-0 was slightly more than we deserved, but compared to Chelsea’s dominant display on Wednesday, we will take it.

This win puts us back into third in the Premier League, above Spurs who played out a 0-0 stalemate away at QPR. We sit 11 points of League leaders Manchester United having played the same amount of games. Tomorrow will be a rare day when I will actually be hoping for a hat full of Suarez goals. Come on Liverpool, beat United for us…

Chelsea are said to have put Guingamp midfielder Giannelli Imbula at the top of their January shortlist, after receiving highly encouraging scout reports from their top scouts.

The 20 year-old is a regular for Guingamp in the French second-tier, and has been watched closely by London rivals Arsenal and Queens Park Rangers.

Chelsea are confident of pipping their rivals to his signature, and are expected to reopen negotiations with the club within the next week.

Imbula has a £6million release clause in his contract, and is apparently unavailable for a penny less. Chelsea are likely to negotiate on the price, with the offer of letting them keep him in their playing squad until the end of the season.

Chelsea are in the hunt for a new box-to-box midfielder to replace the English veteran Frank Lampard. The 34 year-old is to be allowed to leave at the end of his contract in June, along with fellow England regular Ashley Cole.

Both players are currently playing in the first-team squad, but the Blues are looking to lower their wage budget, with both players currently receiving in excess of £100K a week.

I would like to see more of the French midfielder before passing my own judgement, but the reports sound like he would be a great signing for the future.

Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo has expressed his admiration for Frank Lampard, insisting he would love to play alongside him in Italy.

The Chelsea legend’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and Roman Abramovich has reportedly refused to offer the 34 year-old an extension. No official stance has been given by the club or player.

Manchester United, Juventus, Inter Milan, Queens Park Rangers and various others have all been linked with moves for the England veteran, with the R’s unlikely to be able to afford his wages.

Should the Blues fail to change their stance, Pirlo would love for Frank to join him at Juventus. The Italian said: “They would be mad to let him leave Chelsea, he’s still one of the best in the world.

“If he wants to play in Italy I would welcome him to Juventus with open arms. Lampard could have another four years at the top in Italy.”

Chelsea fans will not welcome the club’s decision to release him, but will have to accept that the club is bigger than any one player. We have signed a plethora of young midfield talent, and are expected to carry on doing so. We will need to sign an influential player in midfield, who can lead the team the way Franky has for years. The ideal professional, who will be missed dearly.

Chelsea interim manager Rafa Benitez gave the biggest hint yet that Frank Lampard and the other “legends” may be on their way out in the near future.

Lampard and Ashley Cole’s contracts are due to expire at the end of the season, and have yet to be offered new contracts. It had been reported that Ashley would be offered a one-year extension to his deal, with Frank’s agent claiming that the Blues will not be offering the 34 year-old a new deal. No official stance has yet been given.

John Terry’s contract runs out at the end of next season, and is expected to be another Chelsea casualty when his current deal expires.

Rafa Benitez is only in temporary charge of the team currently, and it is unsure how much influence he has on the players in the long term.

Rafa said: “It’s easy to talk about the legends, and you have to have a lot of respect for them. What they’ve achieved for this club has been fantastic. But you have to have new players, English or foreign, it doesn’t matter, and carry on winning games.

“That’s what the fans are expecting. Everyone knows the legends have been here and what they have achieved, but you have to see new players coming. It’s part of life.

“I cannot talk about the past, but I can see the club is changing things for the future, thinking about being successful again. It’s not just: ‘Oh, we won,’ and that’s it.

“You have to keep winning as much as you can, you can’t think, ‘That’s it, we’ve won now’. You have to keep evolving. That means you have to keep bringing in good new players.

“If you want to keep winning, to have the winning mentality, you need the new generation pushing you. Chelsea are managing this situation because they were successful.

“Every year you have to bring in someone else. The English question is something you have to consider, but this year you have three or four players, you have Hazard, Oscar, Piazon and Marin who came last summer, and they will need some time. That is part of the evolution of the team.”

Chelsea will no doubt challenge for years to come, and I can understand why they would be willing to let Frank go considering his wages, I just wish he could stay. He has done a lot for the club, and has helped deliver many trophies to us. The legends will never be forgotten, and I wish them all the best for the future. Do you have a favourite Franky moment?

Chelsea are said to be eyeing up a move for Real Betis midfielder Beñat Etxebarria, who is available for €20million.

The 25 year-old’s contract is set to expire in 18 months, leading various suitors to believe he could be available for a cut-price deal.

The Betis boss has refuted such claims, insisting Beñat will not leave for less than his Beñat €20M minimum fee release clause. Pepe Mel said: “Benat’s clause is €20million and he will only leave for €20million.

“To sell him for anything less would be a disaster. The club must defend its position and Benat knows that. To be able to go the market and find a replacement, the only number is €20million.

“He has one more year left on his contract and he can fulfill that.”

That fee is not likely to deter either Chelsea or Manchester City, who are also linked with the Spaniard, away from the player’s signature.

Chelsea are willing to let Frank Lampard leave in the summer, and Roman Abramovich has been actively seeking his replacement. Lampard’s contract expires at the end of the season, and the 34 year-old is expected to continue playing for another 2-3 years.

Beñat has been outstanding for Betis since joining Betis, and has since earned his international call-up, having played four times for Spain. This feat is all the more interesting given the enormous amount of Spanish talent that exists in midfield. I see the 25 year-old as a very talented individual but to tout him as a Lampard replacement would be wrong. He could however bring a new edge to the Chelsea midfield, and I would like to see him made a Blue before next season.

Chelsea captain John Terry has claimed that the Blues should retire Frank Lampard’s jersey number, as a tribute to his contribution to the club.

Lampard is set to leave the Blues on a free-transfer at the end of the season, with Roman Abramovich reluctant to extend the 34 year-old’s contract.

Terry tweeted: “Devastated is an understatement. We should retire the number 8 shirt in honour of Lamps. #theheartbeat #hero #legend #hero #goalmachine #friend #ktbffh [keep the blue flag flying high] #cfc #chelsea.”

The club captain later denied his reaction was from official news given by the Chelsea hierarchy, but from an apparent Steve Kutner interview in the Italian media, in which he reportedly said the midfielder would definitely be leaving the Bridge this summer. “I have seen franks agents quotes on sky yesterday. That’s all I’m going on nothing more,” he said.

The Sun recently ran a poll asking sports fans whether they thought Chelsea should extend his stay with the Blues, and a whopping 84% said they should. If only Roman agreed with the 84%!

Frank Lampard scored both of our goals in last Sunday’s Everton win, which Chelsea came from behind to win 2-1, and has been instrumental in Chelsea’s recent form. The Blues had been struggling prior to Franks return from injury. Chelsea have won 6 of the 8 games since Lampard returned, compared to their run of 3 wins in the 11 games without the England veteran.

Frank Lampard has won everything for Chelsea bar the World Club Cup, and has been a loyal servant since his move across London from West Ham in 2001.

Lampard’s most likely future destinations appear to be in Serie A, with Inter Milan rumoured to be very keen on the midfielder, with his uncle Harry Redknapp also said to be interested in signing him for QPR. Lamp’s sees himself playing on for another 2-3 seasons after this one, and believes he still has a lot to offer at the top level.

Chelsea fans such as me will have to accept the loss of Franky, as Roman will not budge once he has made up his mind. Chelsea will not be the same without Lampard. The legend will never be forgotten.

Frank Lampard put in a man of the match performance yesterday in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Everton at Goodison Park yesterday, but admits he still has no offer on the table.

The England central midfielder’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, and the 34 year-old is allowed to talk to foreign clubs about a free-transfer in the summer as of tomorrow.

Frank Lampard scored both of Chelsea’s goals in yesterday’s win, and has been in fine form since his return from injury.

Chelsea fans have taken some time out of abusing Rafa Benitez from the sidelines to cheer ‘sign him up’, in reference to extending Franky’s current deal.

Chelsea have only failed to win in 1 match that Frank Lampard has started in this seasons Premier League, yet Roman Abramovich seems unimpressed. The Russian tycoon is refusing to offer any new contracts to John Terry, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole. These 3 players have all been key to Chelsea for many years, and are still at the top of their games today.

Cole will also be allowed to talk to foreign clubs as of tomorrow, with a host of clubs across Europe hoping for his signature. He was reportedly offered a one-year extension, but refused that in hope of a two-year deal.

John Terry’s deal is set to expire at the end of next season, and it is thought that he will not be offered an extension either.

It is upsetting to think Chelsea will be letting our best players leave at the end of the season, and for free! Roman Abramovich should realise the experienced players influence on the whole squad, especially the young stars who are trying to grow into the players they wish to become. Sign them up Roman.

Chelsea veteran midfielder Frank Lampard praises David Luiz, after the defender put in a good display in a midfield role in the 8-0 drubbing of Aston Villa.

David Luiz has been tipped to make his mark in midfield for some time, and with John Obi Mikel’s African Cup of Nations trip coming up in a few weeks and Oriol Romeu’s six month injury, he is expected to be utilized in that position over the next month.

Franky said: “He has the ability to play either position and he’s been a fantastic central defender,” Lampard told the club’s website (www.chelseafc.com) on Monday.

David Luiz scored Chelsea’s second of 8 yesterday, with a delightful free-kick, and Lampard added: “You don’t see the hours put in on the training pitch to work on that technique.”

“David has done it and now you are seeing the rewards because every time we get a free kick in that area you fancy him to get it on target.”

The England international however received the warmest reaction from the crowd, with a standing ovation while being substituted on the hour-mark, and with the crowd singing ‘sign him up’ in response to the expected loss of Frank at the end of the season.

The Chelsea legend added: “The fans have supported me from the first minute I arrived and I appreciate them doing that, I try to play well for them.”

Lampard grabbed the fourth goal against Villa with a typically venomous long-range thunderbolt.

“I am very pleased with our win,” Lampard said. “We showed everything we are about when we are at our best and I am pleased to be a part of that and to contribute with a goal as well.

“We showed great appetite from the first minute with our desire to move the ball quickly and the early goal helped.”

David Luiz has had question marks over his defending, but in his two starts in midfield I cannot find a fault in his play. He has been outstanding, and his free-kick topped it off. Great performance Luiz.

As for Lampard, I hope Chelsea will give him an extension, he clearly has more to offer the club, and is so close to becoming Chelsea’s all time top scorer. Lamps is 12 goals off joining Bobby Tambling as joint-top scorer ever. He could get close to that by the end of the season if he can keep fit. Legend.
