No confirmed new transfers but there are a few bits of gossip and news out there. Firstly I want to wish all the best to Daniel Sturridge and his family. I hope that Roberto Di Matteo is right and that our young striker gets to appear at the Olympics. The most important thing is that he is okay.

Andriy Shevchenko might be coming back to Stamford Bridge, but don’t panic because we won’t be playing him this time. He is rumoured to be set to join the back room staff at Chelsea. He was thought to be off to America for a couple of lucrative seasons in the MLS but his friend Roman Abramovich has made him a better offer.

Salomon Kalou will not be able to exact his revenge on Chelsea by scoring against them as so often happens when a club lets a player go. He is going to join French Ligue 1 side Lille apparently. Good luck to you Salomon.

David Luiz has not been included in the Brazilian Olympic squad which is probably a good thing for Chelsea. The young players involved will get a lot of benefit from the experience but for the older players it is just a chance to get injured.

Any lingering hope that Chelsea fans may have had of finally signing Luka Modric from Tottenham seems to be disappearing fast as Real Madrid are thought to have almost completed the deal. At least he won’t be playing for the Spuds.

There are lots of Chelsea transfer rumours flying about just now, but the club needs to make room for any incoming players. The Blues have already said goodbye to striking legend Didier Drogba and have also decided not to offer new contracts to Salomon Kalou and Jose Bosingwa, according to the Daily Star.

At 26-years old, Kalou is far from being past his best, and has been a good servant to Chelsea since joining the club from Feyenoord in 2006. He has played in 244 games and scored 58 goals with 40 assists. Used mainly on the left wing or as a support striker, his departure will leave a gap just where Eden Hazard likes to operate. Could this be a clue? Hazard is, actually, equally at home on either flank and is a defender’s nightmare.

Bosingwa has not featured so heavily for Chelsea, making 118 appearances in all competitions during his four years at Stamford Bridge. Often used as cover, the arrival of Gary Cahill and David Luiz has made his stay at Chelsea more unnecessary. There have been rumblings that Gregory Van Der Wiel is a possible replacement…

Both Kalou and Bosingwa will go out on high though, having started against Munich for the most glorious game in Chelsea history.

Chelsea is due to see quite a bit of change in the summer, and even though a permanent manager has not yet been announced, a few moves have already started to show.

The Blues have managed to secure the signature of German attacking midfielder Marko Marin, while striker Salomon Kalou seems to be close to a move back to his former side Feyenoord Amsterdam, after he stated: “Feyenoord can call me any time – they are the first name on my list,” said the Ivory Coast international.

“Let me win the Champions League final and then I will think about Feyenoord. Yes, I’m serious!”

Club future talent Josh McEachran is due to return from the lower division, and he’s looking forward to securing a first this spot this time around and avoid being sent out on loan once again.

“It’s been frustrating,” he said. “I’ve just got to keep my head up.

“I’m looking forward to going back to Chelsea and training with the team again.”

Chelsea’s main man Didier Drogba also spoke about his situation, and it seems that the rumours linking him to Barcelona were nothing but dust in the wind, and the striker is due to negotiate a contract extension with the club.

“We’ll sit down with him and we’re going to talk,” said Drogba. “There are a lot of rumours about me being offered to Barcelona. It’s not true. It’s not true,”

Reports in Portugal are saying that Porto’s Hulk has already agreed terms with Chelsea, which would surely mean the end for Drogba, and Alvaro Pereira, who was targeted by Chelsea last summer, has also announced his willingness to move on this summer.

Further changes are expected after the manager will be set, and transfer targets like Alvaro Pereira, Hulk or Falcao are bound to be tempted to join. Who else should Chelsea bring in in this transfer window?

Chelsea’s Solomon Kalou says that his club don’t need to make any big transfers this summer in order to win trophies again. The Stamford Bridge management are doing their very best to sign Luka Modric but are meeting with heavy resistance from Tottenham.

Speaking in the Daily Mirror he said: “It is up to the manager to decide who to bring in but we know we have the quality in the team to win the league. There is quality in the squad and now we have to play together. We have to keep going and I believe in the players.”

He continued: “There is a new manager, new challenge and a new chance for everyone and the one who shows better desire and quality will play. We are really confident and we are looking to win back the Premier League. It won’t be easy because of teams like Man City and Man United and Arsenal always present.”

Meanwhile Villas-Boas has said there won’t be radical changes at the club. The Daily Mirror quoted him as saying: “I am still evaluating things at the moment. It is not that I have to change things radically and I will take it step by step. I think it is pretty obvious that we will go into the market at one time or the other but not with radical changes to the team.”

Chelsea have been interested in the likes of Neymar and Modric but so far have been unable to sign any of their big summer targets.

The Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou hit out at Fernando Torres last night when he said that Roman Abramovich should not have brought the sulky ex-Liverpool striker into the team in January.

Torres took his time opening his goalscoring account at Chelsea, and Kalou says that the Spanish international was more interested in whether he was picked to play in the first team rather than making sure the team was winning.

“Our players were preoccupied with finding out who was in the side and who wasn’t. This disrupted our progress.

“It is better to build a team gradually than to bring in players who will pout and sulk.”

“Our team is used to winning and when we end up losing, things become hard for us.

“Yes, we won nothing this year but successive seasons do not resemble one another.”

That doesn’t augur well for Chelsea next season, especially if Didier Drogba stays on at Stamford Bridge. Whoever the new manager is is certainly going to have problems keeping both Drogba AND Torres happy….

Poor old Fernando Torres just can’t seem to find the back of the net for Chelsea. It seems like a dream that Roman Abramovich paid Liverpool £50m for the Spaniard back in January with the expectation of seeing floods of goals, but it is turning into a nightmare for Torres.

To Abramovich it must be similar to the poker players on a winning streak who woke up this week to find that his Pokerstars site shuts down, and then gets worse when he finds out that ALL poker rooms shut down at the same time! There is just no way he can withdraw his winnings or carry on riding his luck.

So Chelsea now have a £50m player that can’t score, and they find out that the team plays better when Torres is sitting on the bench. Salomon Kalou said after Chelsea had demolished West Brom with Drogba as the main striker that everyone feels more comfortable with the Ivorian leading the attack in a 4-3-3 formation. He said: “Yes, we play our best games like that,”

“Everyone knows Chelsea are stronger with that system.”

“He always gives his best for the team and has the personality to bring everyone together,”

“When he plays like that, the whole team feels secure.”

So with the game in the bag, Carlo Ancelotti replaces Drogba with Torres, and despite his team-mates giving him the ball at every opportunity, Torres just can’t muster up neccessary finish to stop the jinx.

“We all want him to score.” Kalou continued. “So even if he’s not in the right position you want to give him the ball because you feel the goal is the only thing he’s missing. That’s all everyone’s thinking about. He must not give up. You can’t lose all quality in a couple of months, but you can be a different player without confidence.”

Okay Torres is still only 26 so he has a few more years to prove he is still world class at Stamford Bridge, but it looks like Abramovich is going to have to quickly accept that he has made a mistake by bringing in Torres this year, and he will certainly not ever recoup the £50m he paid out to Liverpool!

Chelsea’s sporting director Frank Arnesen will take Salomon Kalou to HSV in Hamburg when he leaves Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, according to reports from Germany. The Dane revealed earlier this season that he will be leaving the Premier League to work with the Bundesliga side and speculation has started about which Chelsea players he will bring with him.

The German paper Hamburger Abendblatt reports that the 25-year-old will make the move since he can not see himself getting much playing time with Torres, Drogba and Anelka ahead of him in the picking order and with Sturridge to return to Chelsea at the end of the season. Meanwhile Ruud Van Nistelrooy is set to leave HSV at the end of the season opening up space for the Ivory Coast forward.

Kalou joined Chelsea from Feyenoord in 2006 for £9 million. He has played in 211 games and scored 51 goals for Chelsea.

Kalou’s current contract will expire in 2012 and his current market value is thought to be £12 million. However Arnesen will hope to negotiate a better price between his current and future employers.

Chelsea are cruising at the top of the table and should have had another tennis score against a Stoke City side that were desperate not to get another 7-0 drubbing like the end of last season. They managed to hold Chelsea to just 2-0 but not because Chelsea were lacking in chances.

Malouda yet again (third match in a row) put Chelsea in front after half an hour, but Lampard should have put away his penalty after just 10 minutes of the game. In the second half Lampard was taken off so Drogba got a chance to take a penalty for a change and he made no mistake.

Kalou had a brilliant chance to make it three in the dying seconds but they will surely be happy with another three points and another clean sheet.

Chelsea topped their fntastic season by winning the FA Cup Final against Portsmouth at Wembley, but the 1-0 scoreline doesn’t give justice to the gulf between the two sides.

Drogba’s brilliant free-kick was the difference between the two teams in the end, but Chelsea hit the woodwork a total of five times in the first half, not to mention that Salomon Kalou actually got the ball over the line once but it wasn’t seen by the referee or linesman.

Kalou also made the worst miss of the day when he hit the bar from two yards out with an empty goal in front of him.

Both sides missed penalties to make it even more nail-biting, and Portsmouth did have a couple of good chances themselves, and the longer the game went on it looked like they may be able to cause a shock, but then along came Drogba………

The Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou has been getting a few games for Chelsea lately, and scoring goals for fun too. He believes that Chelsea just need to prepare as normal for the game against Wigan, and enjoy the moment, along with the fans at home.

“Like usual. We are not doing something special. We are just training like we train before every game and even if it is the most important game of the season, if we play like we know how to play then it should be a nice game to watch,” Kalou said.

“We should go there and enjoy the moment because you don’t get these opportunities always. Playing for the title in front of your own supporters, we have to enjoy that and make them enjoy it as well and hopefully in the end we can all celebrate together.”

“I think it is my best form and I think it is because I keep playing. Before I used to play one game and then not play and then play the next game,”

“Now I have started the last couple of games and I am looking forward to finishing the season strongly.”

I for one am going to enjoy it even if Chelsea win 1-0 in a scrappy game ! But I doubt that will happen….
