There is no getting around the fact that Chelsea were well below par against Steaua Bucharest in Romania last night. Having said that, the home team needed the help of a generous refereeing decision to give them the win. The result was disappointing, but it was only 1-0, and Chelsea should easily be able to turn the tie around at Stamford Bridge next week.

Fernando Torres again did his impression of a man suffering from amnesia, because he looked like he had never seen a game of football before. With Demba Ba cup tied in Europe, the Spaniard is our only striking option, so it is a good thing that the players behind him are able to find the back of the net, although they also had a bad night.

Oscar was probably the best of the bunch, with Hazard generally ineffective and Benayoun looking very rusty. Mata was no better when he came on, but Marko Marin did add some zip at the end and he produced the best piece of play from us on the night, with a good run and decent effort at goal.

The whole team was sluggish, and Bertrand was caught out of position from a free kick, but the decision to award a penalty was harsh, and Cech almost saved it. It was a poor night, but should not matter too much in the scheme of things. We must be much better at Old Trafford in the FA cup on Sunday, and I’m sure we will be.

Chelsea are in no mood to feel sympathy for Manchester United and Alex Ferguson. The league leaders are obviously in a dark place at the moment and they feel cheated out of a place in the next round of the Champions League.

The only thing on the mind of Chelsea’s defender David Luiz is piling on the misery this weekend when the Blues travel to Old Trafford in the FA cup. If you think Chelsea can take advantage of United’s Champions League hangover then look at this site some betting bonus information. The 25-year old Brazilian says that Chelsea are hoping to take full advantage of United’s frame of mind.

Luiz said yersterday: “It’s difficult when you have been knocked out of an amazing competition like the Champions League because your confidence is not the same.

“The happiness in Manchester United’s hearts will not be there and Chelsea can use this to win our game on Sunday. Maybe this will give us an advantage.

“United will be playing at home but some players and supporters will be thinking `it’s not the Champions League` and it will be difficult for them to come in with the sane form.”

United may be burning with indignation about a red card, but I doubt that the Chelsea players have forgotten that red cards were at the centre of our league defeat to United at the end of October. Torres got one when it should have been Evans and United stole the points, so Chelsea will be hoping that United do not get all the decisions again on Sunday, although Howard Webb will be the referee and there are some who feel that United tend to do well when he is in charge.

All we ask is for a level playing field, no Fergie time or dodgy cards and penalties.

As the title race heats up ahead of the upcoming showdown between Manchester United and Chelsea, Sir Alex Ferguson is starting his trade-mark mind-games. This weekend Chelsea beat Tottenham and Arsenal beated United meaning the Blues are only three points behind the Red Devils. Chelsea can move to the top of the league if they beat United with only two games of the season left after that.

The Guardian reported Ferguson complaining about the referee’s decision making after the Arsenal game. He said: “we’re not going to get the decisions in these big games, I’m afraid”.

The comment was in reaction to Michael Owen not being awarded a penalty after being stamped on in the penalty area by Gael Clichy.

He then spoke about the Chelsea game which the Blues won under controversial circumstances, a goal in which the ball did not seem to cross the line and another where the scorer was in an offside position.

“They got great decisions for them on Saturday and they seem to get these decisions at the moment. They got one to win the league last season at Old Trafford. So that’s a worry. You go into a game worrying about these things. But in terms of ability, a game at Old Trafford … the league at stake … our supporters will be ready for it and so will my players”.

With only three games left in the season the clash between Chelsea and United at Old Trafford could be the deciding game of the season.

The Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti told today about how pig-ignorant Alex Ferguson was last season when Chelsea beat Man utd at Old Trafford on the way to winning the Premier League title.

“Our success at Old Trafford was the one that got us the League title, even though in the end Ray Wilkins and I were forced to drink to our victory alone,” said Ancelotti.

“As is the tradition, a few minutes after the final whistle we went to Sir Alex’s room to drink the usual glass of wine. We walked in, and silence reigned.

“He sat there staring at a television screen; the set was tuned to a horse race, his greatest love.

“We were strictly relegated to the background, to some place beyond and behind the background.

“We stood awkwardly for a while without saying a word, uncertain what to do, and finally did what we had come to do. We drank a glass of wine, to our own health. Bye-bye.

“Even though I won the three games I played against him that season, I still consider Ferguson to be a master of soccer, an example I have always looked up to, in some ways, unattainable. (Unattainable in the sense that I don’t have a passion for racehorses.)”

Now who would have thought that Sir Alex was a bad loser lol!

The Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti believes it was Chelsea’s two wins over the reigning Champions, Manchester Unitd, that was the key to Chelsea taking the Premiership trophy back to Stamford Bridge. especially the win last month at Old Trafford which sent Chelsea back to the top.

“The key point, I think, was our victory at home and also, above all, in Manchester,” said Ancelotti, “They were the key for this title because that improved our confidence and sent United a little bit down.”

“I think that this club will have a future because these players are not so old and we have a very good squad, for next year and the years after,” he continued.

“We had a fantastic season, not only by winning the Premier League but because we showed a good style on the pitch. After the first year, I hope to stay here a long time and win a lot of titles.”

Let’s hope this is the first of many Carlo, and we can forget about Mourinho at last!

Carlo Ancelotti knows that three points are absolutely necessary if Chelsea are to take pole position away from Man Utd in the title race, and he is clear that he has no intention of being happy with sharing the points.

Chelsea have already recorded two victories over their rivals this season, but Ancelotti doesn’t think that will have any effect on this game. “We have a very good chance,” he said. “This game will be different. We are playing for the title and psychologically it is different.

“We are fit and confidence has improved after Portsmouth and Aston Villa. It will be a very important game.

“If we can win, it’s better for us. If it ends a draw, that’s not a bad result because we have a lot of games and every one is important. We have lost a lot of points against smaller teams and so have United. Arsenal are still very close. We are not going there for a draw, we go there to win.

“I know it is difficult to win at Old Trafford but it is a fantastic stadium for me also, not only for Sir Alex. I won the Champions League there in 2003 and I have good memories – the best memories of my career. I will always love that stadium.”

Let’s hop that Ancelotti has even more happy memories after tomorrow’s game!
