The Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is adamant that the club won’t need to sign any new players in January, despite the possibility that they could be banned from signing anyone for the following two transfer windows.
He said: “All the players are in good condition. If we maintain this, we’ll sign nobody.
The 25 year-old Sampdoria striker Giampaolo Pazzini has been variously linked with Chelsea and Arsenal in the last couple of weeks, but today Sky Sports has confirmed that the Chelsea sporting director Frank Arnesen was in Italy this weekend to watch him play again.
Pazzini didn’t score and his team lost 3-0 to Genoa, but that doesn’t change the fact that he has been prolific in his ten months at Sampdoria, scoring 19 league goals, and 7 in 12 games this season.
According to a report in the News of the World this morning, Chelsea have decided to bid £17m for the Sampdoria striker Giampaolo Pazzini in January, after seeing the transfer ban from FIFA suspended until the New Year.
They say that Carlo Ancelotti is looking to the future as Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba are both on the wrong side of 30, and the 25 year-old Pazzini, who has scored seven goals in 11 games for Sampdoria this season, is perfect cover for when Drogba goes to the African Nations Cup.
