Chelsea have targeted a surprise move for Queens Park Rangers’ midfielder Stephane Mbia, according to French newspaper L’Equipe.
The Cameroonian impressed in QPR’s surprise 1-0 win over the Blues last week at Stamford Bridge. Harry Redknapp is thought to refuse such a sale unless his club complete the signing of Yann M’Vila.
The R’s are the bookmakers favourites to sign M’Vila, ahead of London rivals Spurs, and are likely to further discussions with Rennes this week,
Chelsea have been linked with moves for defensive midfield cover, with John Obi Mikel missing a possible 6 weeks at the African Cup of Nations, which starts this weekend. .....Read more...

Chelsea interim manager Rafa Benitez has insisted that the Blues are in a season of transition, with the West Londoners hierarchy on the same wavelength.
Rafa said: “The team is a good team, when you have a good squad, you can manage players and you can keep a good team on the pitch, as has been the case at Chelsea in the last few years. This year you can see is a year of transition, with some new players coming in, so it’s different. Before at Chelsea you had a lot of big names, then you could manage a lot of different players. Queens Park Rangers’ boos Harry Redknapp has claimed that yesterday’s 1-0 win over Chelsea was one of his best ever victories.
Chelsea were entering the match in form, having won 7 of their last 8 matches, with QPR however started the game on the back of three consecutive defeats, and without an away win for over a year!
Chelsea dominated much of the game, but could only muster up two shots on target, from 26 shooting chances. This allowed Shaun Wright-Phillips goal for QPR to snatch all 3 points. .....Read more...

Chelsea lost 1-0 to Queens Park Rangers at Stamford Bridge tonight, after Rafa Benitez tinkered with his starting line-up, leaving four of Chelsea’s regular stars on the bench.
Benitez opted to start the game against bottom-of-the-table QPR without Ashley Cole, Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Ramires.
Chelsea had won 7 of their previous 8 games before playing tonight’s West London derby, and had been hoping to move within 11 points of Premier League leaders Manchester United, with a game in hand.
Chelsea dominated much of the game, creating 26 shooting chances, but only managed to get 2 shots on target. .....Read more...

Harry Redknapp has said that only a ‘dope’ could fail at Chelsea, as he readies his Queens Park Rangers squad to take on the Chelsea at Stamford Bridge today.
The new QPR boss was hired 3 days after Rafa Benitez took over the helm at Chelsea, with each other´s objectives and challenges very different.
Redknapp has been set the task of motivating his squad to fight for their place in the Premier League, whereas Rafa’s main objectives were to get Fernando Torres scoring goals and fix the Blues leaky defence. .....Read more...
