The Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti will soon have a headache if Joe Cole and Yuri Zhirkov come through unscathed after their first game of the season tonight against QPR.

Chelsea host Tottenham in which looks like their hardest fixture so far this season. The Blues have won five out of five this season, and have a great home record against the Lilywhites, but the games are always hard-fought, exciting games. The Chelsea coach Carlo Ancelotti is still worried about the injury to new signing Yuri Zhirkov, but is hoping that he will not need surgery. The winger was picked for the Russia national team but didn’t figure in either game over the international break.

‘At the moment we don’t think that he needs surgery,’ says Ancelotti.

Chelsea’s new £18m signing Yuri Zhirkov is yet to make his debut for the Blues, but has still been called up to Guus Hiddinck’s Russia squad for the World Cup Qualifiers.

He aggravated a knee injury in pre-season against AC Milan, and despite continually being told he will make his debut soon, the injury refuses to heal properly.

The Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has made it clear that for him the transfer window is closed. He is more than happy with the present squad and it was decided on his arrival that there wouldn’t be the need to strengthen the squad.

“The book is closed,” said Ancelotti.

“We have to wait one week for the end of the window, but the book is closed now.

Frank Lampard equalled Jimmy Greaves record of goals scored for Chelsea the other night, but is more concerned about winning trophies with the Blues than getting personal accolades. He is now up to joint fifth with Greaves in the Chelsea records, and i am sure he will carry on climbing in the next few seasons.

He said today: “I’m delighted with that, Jimmy is a goalscoring legend and I’m sure he did it in a lot less games than I did.

The French international Florent Malouda is very happy that he has finally earned the respect of the club and the fans at Chelsea, and, having signed a new contract, is looking forward to winning more trophies with the team this season.

He is really happy that he was offered a new contract and now feels valued by the club.

The new Chelsea coach has announced that he is very happy with the squad at his disposal, and has no interest in bringing in or selling anyone at all.

Daniel Sturridge, Ross Turnbull and Yuri Zhirkov have been added to the team already, and Ancelotti explained that he has no room for any more arrivals.

“We stay with these players,” he said.

I have found it very hard to take this move to buy Pirlo seriously, and think that there is absolutely no reason in the world for Chelsea to buy a 30-year-old midfielder, when we have an overabundance of even better players already at the club.

The Brazilian goal-scoring legend Zico, who now manages Yuri Zhirkov’s old team CSKA Moscow, has said that losing Zhirkov is as bad as Man Utd losing Ronaldo or AC Milan losing Kaka!

When it was decided that Zhirkov would become the most expensive Russian ever, Zico lamented that his team would find it hard to live without the wizard winger. He said: “Currently in football there is no player who is able to replace Zhirkov.
