West Bromwich Albion have confirmed that Romelu Lukaku will be staying on at the Hawthorns until the end of the season.
Lukaku arrived in the Midlands in the summer on a season-long loan, with Chelsea retaining the option to recall the Belgian in January. That option expired on Monday, and a Baggies’ spokesperson confirmed: “Romelu will remain at the Hawthorns for the rest of the season.
“Chelsea’s January option to recall him expired on Monday.”
Lukaku recently spoke out about his belief that he should stay at the Midland club for the rest of the season, as well staying on next season to continue his progression.
The 19 year-old Belgian has been in fine form this season, bagging himself seven goals so far, and being selected ahead of the impressive Shane Long of late.
The on-loan striker started the season as a substitute but has earned his stripes with the first-team by working hard on the pitch and in training.
The young striker looks to have a great future ahead of him at Chelsea, and I am glad he has finally made his mark on the Premier League this year.
He is growing in confidence, and when his time comes to provide for the Blues, I hope he can make his mark for Chelsea in the long-term. He has the talent, but can he make it at Stamford Bridge?
