Anderlecht are still waiting for Chelsea to put the cash on the table for their young striker Romelu Lukaku after long drawn out negotiations, and some say that the reason talks have stopped is because Andre Villas-Boas would rather take Radamel Falcao to Stamford Bridge instead of Lukaku.
Anderlechts Director of football Herman van Holsbeeck thinks the deal will still go through, but thinks Chelsea are looking for a cheaper price. “People say the new Chelsea manager doesn’t want Lukaku – but they have different information to me.” he said. “But we will only sell him if it is good for both ourselves and the player.
“We want serious money for him.”
The Anderlecht president Roger Vanden Stock also thinks Chelsea will end up with the prolific young striker.
“Lukaku says Chelsea are the club for him, so they will probably be the club he joins,” he said. “But they have not yet put their money on the table. They want him for as little as possible.
“We’ll see what happens. He will go to England in the end, but it is fine if he stays another year with us.”
I reckon Abramovich is the one pushing for Lukaku, but AVB will want Falcao to come as an example to the others of how he operates.
