Ballack – Avram Grant did a great job at Chelsea!

The Chelsea and Germany midfielder Michael Ballack thinks that Avram Grant did an excellent job in his nine months at Chelsea, and should be welcomed back with open arms.

He fought back to put the team back in the race for the Premiership title, and took Chelsea to one kick away from winning the Champions League trophy, closer than any other Chelsea manager ever!

“Chelsea, as a big club, should welcome a man who did a great job during a period of three-quarters of a year,” said Ballack.

“Avram Grant nearly won the Champions League so he came so close to the biggest success for the club, and in the league we did very well and we came close to Man United. It was possible until the last game against Bolton.”

“I think he did a good job, and for him it will be a special game tomorrow.”

“He was always open and was trying to involve the players, even when we had a difficult time. He changed us a few times but mostly he played 4-3-3 like Mourinho did.

“It was a difficult situation because if you are the manager after Jose, who had so much credit in the club and had done so well then it is always difficult to work. It was obviously that for him as well because he had to go after one season.

“Of course it is a totally different situation at Portsmouth. He came to Chelsea and he had fantastic players and a team that plays for the title and the Champions League title. Now he is playing at the bottom but he has experience and he can manage that situation.”

Well said Michael, and how did the great Felipe Scolari do after he replaced him?
