Chelsea and Man City NOT chasing Gattuso – says Galliani

The AC Milan star midfielder Gennaro Gattuso has voiced his displeasure at being left out of the Milan team, and indicated that he would be looking for a new club soon if the situation didn’t improve.

He said: I’m Rino Gattuso and I shouldn’t have to wait until someone is injured to be able to play.

“I still feel strong and I’m disappointed to not be showing that but I won’t accept the thought that I am no longer indispensible.

“Will I go? There’s still five or six matches to go before the Christmas break, I have to talk to the club and with Galliani because it’s not nice after 11 years to play only occasionally.”

But Galliani, the Milan Vice President, says he is assured that neither Chelsea nor Man City are looking to take Gattuso in the near future, and he says that the reason the fiery midfielder hasn’t played is because he isn’t fit.

“I don’t think Gattuso wants to go. I spoke to him again yesterday on the telephone,” said Galliani. “First of all he has to get fit and then we’ll talk about the rest.

“He has a contract and Milan isn’t a hotel where you leave the room, pay and go.

“He told me there was nothing in the Manchester City story and I also spoke to (Chelsea coach Carlo) Ancelotti (who used to coach Milan) and he said Rino isn’t in his plans either.

“Gennaro wants to get better, then he has two choices: sign a new contract or go.

“In which case he should make a decision at the end of December or beginning of January.”

So he could still be leaving in the Winter transfer window after all?

Why would we be interest in a 31year old with zero PL experience anyway?Besides there’s barely any space in our midfield as it is we certainly wouldn’t need anyone else.
