Chelsea close in on Bruno Alves

Chelsea have been chasing the Porto and Portugal defender Bruno Alves for years, and they are now close to finally getting their man.

Alves has two years left on his contract at the Portugese giants, but has told the management that he is now ready to leave, and the Telegraph is convinced that he will going to Stamford Bridge.

With Ricardo Carvalho in Milan for talks with the European Champions Inter, it looks like there is room in the Chelsea back line for another top defender, and Alves fits the bill perfectly.

He is expected to fetch around £15m on the open market.
