Chelsea rumours 22nd July 2009 – Alonso, Beckham, Drogba and Shevchenko

Here’s a roundup of todays rumours for Chelsea, and my thoughts on them.

Chelsea and Manchester City are in the hunt for Liverpool’s Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso after his proposed £35m move to Real Madrid stalled. (Daily Mail)

Total rubbish! Neither Chelsea nor City would pay the ridiculous sums that Benitez puts on his players. Alonso will either go to Real Madrid or nowhere.

The line of suitors eyeing a move for former England captain David Beckham is growing, with Chelsea, Tottenham and Fulham all ready to offer the Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder a deal. (Daily Mail)

Another crazy story from the Mail. They will write anything to fill up space. Chelsea’s team is already old enough, and we have more than enough wingers thanks!

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti anticipates Ukrainian striker Andriy Shevchenko, who was on loan at AC Milan last season, will leave the club before the start of the 2009-2010 campaign, with Dynamo Kiev and Fenerbahce interested. (The Guardian)

Just go Sheva for Christs sake! The only stumbling block is his mega wages, and Chelsea will probably have to subsidise him until the end of his contract. Ancelotti gave him 45 minutes against Seattle the other day, but i expect that he will be on his way shortly.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has revealed “irreplaceable” striker Didier Drogba, 31, will sign a new three-year deal at Stamford Bridge. (Daily Telegraph)

I certainly hope this is true, we will need him certainly for the next year at least. Three years might be pushing it, but he is certainly hard to replace.

Sheva will never leave while he is earning squillions for doing nothing.
