Chelsea are looking to hijack Arsenal’s transfer bid for Bolton defender Gary Cahill. John Terry has advised Villas-Boas to go after Cahill and upset Arsenal’s plans.
According to the Daily Mirror the England captain has asked his club to make an offer for the 25-year-old defender since the Brazilian Alex is being sold to Bayern Munich.
The Blues are thought to be keen on signing an English defender in order to get ready for the upcoming rules on home-grown players. However there may be a sticking-point when it comes to the transfer fee as Chelsea are unlikely to want to splash out £18million for a defender that only has one year left on his contract.
Arsenal are desperate to sign a strong defender, preferably a British one and would be upset if they don’t land Cahill. There is unrest amongst the Arsenal supporters as well as the squad that there have not been any high-profile signing except for Gervinho, while there are constant rumours that some of their best players, such as Nasri and Fabregas, will leave.
Chelsea have been fairly quiet on the transfer front as well, it seems that all the major clubs are waiting for one big deal to go through before the transfer merry-go-round gets going.
