The Chelsea transfer rumours look like they have come to a halt today. Yesterday all the papers were full of the news that Chelsea were about to make a £10m bid for the classy Croatian right back Darijo Srna, but today they are all saying that Ancelotti is not interested.
The Daily Mail, in a typical in-depth report said: Chelsea’s interest in Shakhtar Donetsk right back Darijo Srna has cooled after being put off by his wage demands and ineligibility to play in the Champions League.
They certainly know how to keep a fan glued to the page don’t they!
Luis Suarez is another that has been touted as Ancelotti’s “Number One Target” in recent days, but the Ajax star has scotched any chance of him moving before next summer.
Suarez said yesterday, “I don’t know where the Chelsea rumours originated from. I’ve told everyone here at Ajax that I want to stay.
“I want to stay because I start every game, and thus I’ll go to the World Cup. I’ll definitely be here until June.”
So that leaves Sergio Aguero, who is the latest to say he is definitely not going to join Chelsea in January.
“What is clear is that I am happy here and my future lies with Atletico,” he said.
“It’s always good when a team is interested in you but the truth is I know nothing and if anything happens I’ll refer it to the club for it to decide what to do.
“Right now I’m not thinking of anything – my future is with Atletico.”
So that is three perfectly good rumours down the drain!
Carlo Ancelotti has also put a spoke in the media’s wheel by yet again asserting that he would prefer to bring some youngsters through rather than enter the market for reinforcements when Drogba, Essien, Mikel and Kalou fly off to the African Nations Cup in two weeks time.
Ancelotti said: “There is no news on the market in January. We have the same view as we have had in the last week – we do not, at this moment, need to have new players in January.
“We have confidence in our young players, Fabio Borini, Gael Kakuta, Jeffrey Bruma and Nemanja Matic.
“Matic could not play in the Champions League but he is improving very well and very soon he will play in the first team.”
Do you think this will stop the papers from linking Chelsea with more players before the transfer window begins? I doubt it!
