Chelsea want anyone but the Italians in Champs League draw!

Now that the Champions League Group Stages are finally over we can all look forward to a feast of football in the New Year when the knockout stages come around.

So who are Chelsea likely to want to avoid the next round in February?

There are no easy games at this stage of the competition, but out of the seven possible opponents, I would imagine that Carlo Ancelotti would be reasonably happy if his team drew Stuttgart, Olympiakos or CSKA Moscow, although the last named would mean a long cold trip.

The main one to avoid would be Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan. They may not have played too well in the Group Stages, but the Special One would surely be tactically ready, and dying to get one over his old boss Roman Abramovich.

Ancelotti may also not be pleased to meet his old team AC Milan. The emotional implications of winning (or losing!) against the team where hespent the last ten years may be too much for him.

Bayern Munich are the next most difficult opponents, especially in the away leg, and Lyon are the only other possible opponents, and i’m not sure where i would put them in the list.

They are vastly experienced in the Champions League, and having knocked out Liverpool, may feel they can go a long way this season.

They could be brilliant, or a pushover, depending on their mood.

For me, i think Ancelotti would only be worried if either Milan side came out of the hat. The others are all beatable.
