Didier Drogba is the Chelsea player most likely to rise to the challenge of a big game, which has been proved on countless occasions. Since scoring the winner in the FA Cup Final in 2007 (against Man Utd!), he has subsequently scored in the following three games there too. Against Spurs in the Carling Cup Final in 2008, and in the FA Cup semi-final and Final last season. Can he make it five in a row today?
“I’m looking forward to it, every time I have the chance to play at Wembley I really enjoy it, only against Tottenham when we lost the Carling Cup Final did I not. But I have always been lucky to score goals and lift the Cup and I hope Sunday will be the same,” Drogba said.
“I won’t say it is my favourite ground but I love to perform there, it is really exciting and special to be there.
“It’s good to get back into the season, playing against Manchester United is important for us, and them as well, and we want to show we had a good pre-season and this closes it well.
“It is still important to win, to show we have ambitions and it is of course a big game, important to win and another possible trophy. It would be great to start with a win.”
It certainly would, Didier, it certainly would!
