There were rumours last week that moneybags Man City had made a paltry £20m bid to take the Chelsea striker Didier Drogba to the Eastlands next season, which I obviously dismissed out-of-hand, but now it seems that Drogba’s agent has admitted that he has had direct contact with City representatives.
Thierno Seydi, said: “Today he’s at Chelsea. Maybe there will be surprises before August 31. I haven’t spoken to just anybody. The only contact I’ve had directly was with City.”
Man City themselves were quick to dent any approach, which would be construed as “tapping up” if they approached Drogba without permission from Chelsea.
Vicky Kloss, Man City’s director of communications, said: “We can categorically state we have no interest in signing Didier Drogba and any suggestion of an approach is entirely without foundation.”
I certainly hope so…….
