"Hungry" Germans keen to attack Australia

Although this German team has been labeled as the weakest team for decades, you don’t need to go to the experts to see who the clear favourite is in this match. The Germans are expected to win this win even with the absence of Michael Ballack.

In their match against the USA, the Australian defense appeared weak and will find it hard to restrict the Germans from scoring. That being said, stranger things have happened in the game of football.

Yesterday’s shocking mishap from England’s goalkeeper showed how a match can turn on its head in the space of a few seconds. Australia will be looking for some magic from their mid fielder Tim Cahill who must create chances regularly if Australia are to score against the German defense.

Philipp Lahm, team captain for Germany said that “We are a young and hungry team. It’s noticeable at every training session that the team trains with great enthusiasm and tempo. Everyone is excited and ready to play. Today we have more players who will go on the attack during a 1-1 draw. We have more hands-on types, not so typically German”

For Germany, with the absence of Ballack, all eyes will now be on Bastian Schweinsteiger to fill the gaping hold that Balack has left. If Germany are to advance to the semi-finals, Schweinsteiger has to assume the role that Ballack played. Germany have an impressive record at the World Cup and are expected to crush Australia.

One thing the Germans should never discount is the Australian never-say-die attitude. The men from down under will fight till the very end and keep the German defense on their toes.

Australia’s Josh Kennedy said that Germany’s biggest weakness could be their overconfidence. He said that “They seem to already believe the points are in the bag and that can only work in our favor. We are going in as underdogs and that could get us through.

“We know we can do the job, no question. I don’t see why we can’t beat them. We’ve prepared well, we know we can perform at a high level and we have nothing to fear at all”

Joachim Loew, Germany’s coach, will most likely go with the out-of-form Mirolsav Klose ahead of Cacau. Klose will be in the role of Germany’s lone striker and if he finds form, should penetrate the Australian defense and secure the win for Germany.
