Is Bruno Alves being lined up to replace John Terry?

I just found this interesting article on Portugoal, which suggests that the reason Chelsea have been tracking the Portugese international defender Bruno Alves was in case John Terry leaves the Bridge for Man City.

Chelsea are reported to have pencilled in Bruno Alves as a replacement should their captain John Terry accept a transfer to Manchester City. Terry, also the England captain, has been made an astronomical offer by the Manchester club, whose oil-rich Arab owners are determined to build a team to compete for the Premiership title.

It is no secret that Bruno Alves, voted Player of the Year in Portugal last season, is likely to be sold by Porto this summer.

Barcelona were initially thought to be at the forefront for his signature, but given developments at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea may continue their recent tradition of signing Portuguese players by adding 30m-euro rated Alves to their squad.

Do any real Chelsea fans believe that Terry will actually leave? I have read today that both Avram Grant and Terry Venables have both said that they doubt that Terry will leave, but why haven’t we heard anything from JT himself?
