Lukaku looking to become legend at Chelsea

Chelsea’s on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku has declared his intentions to become a legend at parent club Chelsea FC.

The Belgian striker is currently half-way through his season long loan at West Bromwich Albion, where he is playing regular first-team football under Ex-Chelsea assistant Steve Clarke.

The 19 year-old has started the season with appearances off the bench but has since forced his way into the first-team. He has bagged 9 goals so far this season in his 23 Premier League appearances, with 12 of those appearances coming off the bench.

Lukaku has been enjoying his exciting run of form at the Hawthorns, and has previously insisted he would like to stay on with the Baggies for a second season-long loan next season.

He believes he is adapting to Premier League and is hoping to use his experience to become a great at Stamford Bridge.

“My aim is to play at the Bridge and to be a legend over there in the future,” Lukaku told Sky Sports. “That is the dream. That’s what I signed for Chelsea for. But the time is going so really I need to keep playing. And hopefully in the next few years become one of the key elements at the Bridge.”

His chances of breaking into the Chelsea first-team next season seem to have thinned since the arrival of Demba Ba from Newcastle United last month. The on-loan striker understands that these things happen in sport, and intends to allow his football to do the talking.

“That’s the thing when you play for Chelsea, they will always sign big players,” he said. “So now it is up to me to show I can go over there and play and do the same as he does now.”

Romelu has really impressed since moving on loan at West Brom, and is finally showing the sort of form expected when he arrived from Genk just over 2 years ago. I think he should come back to us next season and fight Demba Ba for the central striker role. I believe that will be up to Jose Mourinho to decide (hopefully!). Romelu and Jose both to return next season, and re-write Chelsea’s history for years to come… I can dream.
