According to reports this morning, the ex-Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is expected to be unveiled as the new coach at Inter Milan this week, and his first move will be to ask Dirk Kuyt and Javier Mascherano to join him in Italy.
The Mail says that contract talks between Liverpool and Mascherano have stalled, and the Argentinian is upset wit Rafael Benitez’s departure. Hicks and Gillett are apparently prepared to have a clear-out to release funds for the new manager to build his own team from scratch, and Mascherano is expected to rake in £30m to put in the pot.
The Mail also reports that Fulham coach Roy Hodgson is favourite to replace Benitez at Anfield, but it seems that Liverpool are in no hurry to get a replacement and will wait until they are sure they have the right man.
