Pato on his way to Chelsea for £43m?
According to a report in todays Mail, the young AC Milan striker Pato is set to join Chelsea this summer in £43m deal. Carlo Ancelotti’s old club are being reported as in financial difficulties and the easiest way for them to balance the books is to sell the young Brazilian on to the highest bidder.
The Italian Sports mag Corriere Dello Sport reports that the Italian giants have had to introduce a salary cap of £3.5m a year as the recession has hit the owners hard, and Adriano Galliani is “understood” that he will have no choice but to sell another big-name player, after Kaka was allowed to join Real Madrid last summer.
Despite only being 20 years old, Pato has already become a regular in Dunga’s Brazil team, and has managed a nice return of 14 goals in 28 games in Serie A this season.
The Italian paper also claims that the young Inter Milan misfit Mario Balotelli is being lined up as a cut price replacement for Pato if he moves to West London. Balotelli has often said that he supports the club from the other side of the city.
