The press as was to be expected are having a field day over Terry’s personal life and according to reports the bigwigs at the FA are hoping that he steps down as the England captain and save Fabio Capello the task of firing him.
The fact that no leaks have come from Capello’s team to indicate that he will relive Terry of the captaincy role has not stopped the press saying that is what is going to happen.
What we do know as facts is that Terry will be meeting with Capello this week to discuss the matter and that it will be Capello and not the press of the hierarchy at the FA that will decide Terry’s future.
We also know from comments in the press that Terry is not prepared to give up the captaincy without a fight.
Reading what some of the press have been saying, they don’t just want Terry removed just as captain but also from the squad itself and this according to sources at the FA is what some of the FA want as well.
The chances are that Terry will be removed as captain, the pressure from the press and some at the FA may be too much for Capello to bare, he wont want a side show going in to the world cup.
From our point of view it is simple, football and personal lives should not interfere with one another, what Terry did was out of order, lets not kid ourselves, Wayne Bridge is suppose to have been a mate.
But the hypocrisy is unbelievable, no one sacked Sven Goran Eriksson when he was bopping anything with a pulse and to think that Terry is the only footballer having an affair is wishful thinking.
If morality was a condition of being an England player then we would be left with the under 12s representing us.
Hopefully Capello will see sense and keep Terry as captain.
