Young Chelsea defender tipped to be England star

It looks like Chelsea have a new star in their midst, and he is home grown as well! Nathaniel Chalobah (known as Nat) is only 15 and a half, but he is considered good enough to play in the England U17 side that contested this weeks U17’s European Championship final win over Spain, playing alongside much older teenagers.

After the 2-1 win, the FA Director of Football Development, Sir Trevor Brooking, singled Nat out for special praise on the official FA website: “Nathaniel is still only 15-and-a-half and he was playing against players that are nearly two whole years older than him. He was excellent.”

High praise indeed from Brooking, who has seen many many youngsters in his time in football. Nat is still a schoolboy at Chelsea, but there is already a contract ready and waiting for him at Stamford Bridge for when he finally turns 16 in December.
