The shot stopper’s agent, Viktor Kolar declared,
“Petr has a valid contract with his current club. However, I can confirm that we have been permitted by Chelsea to negotiate with interested parties and Petr has confirmed his interest to play regularly at a top club. That’s the task that we are now working on, but other than that there has not been any other change in terms of Petr Cech’s employment and the transfer period only begins on 1 July”
The Czech International who has made over 400 appearances in all competitions for the club over 11 seasons, is set to leave the Stamford bridge after having been relegated to the bench this season. The arrival of Thibaut Courtois from Atletico Madrid has made him unsettled after losing his first place berth to the Belgian. Cech had earlier in the season suggested he will stay back and fight for his shirt. However, he hasn’t been able to get his spot back, and his continual stay in the club isn’t likely to make him become favorite again.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, PSG and Monaco have all shown interests in the 32 year-old. Mourinho however states he isn’t wishing to sell the 10 million pounds-worth goalkeeper to a rival EPL team.
“Without Petr this season, I don’t think the club would be champions because he played six important matches in the Premier League and without these points we probably wouldn’t be champions. So for me, decision number one: Petr will stay. After that, second point to go but not in England. The option I don’t want is for him to go to an English club.”
Turkish side, Besiktas has also shown the desire to bring the goalie to Turkey. And negotiations are being made following Chelsea’s green light. All things being equal, the veteran keeper won’t be at Stamford bridge come next season.
