On new year’s day, Chelsea suffered their first EPL defeat, and it was at the hands of the Spurs. Tottenham edged Chelsea with 2 goals in the 8-goal cracker, and one of the players on the score sheet for the White Hart lane side is now a Stamford bridge-target. Danny Rose, the England left back could be headed to the Stamford Bridge next season as Chelsea continues to look for a left back following Filipe Luiz’s disappointment. The former Atletico Madrid player isn’t likely to continue at the team next season following his relegation to the bench, as Azpilicueta is preferred to him.
But the Spain international is primarily a right footer, yet he has excelled at the position. However, it is believed the 24 year-old Danny Rose can do better, given his attacking quality which betters the Spaniard’s. Rose scored thrice and made 4 assists in the EPL, while Cesar could only get 3 assists and no goal. The former Leeds United player who joined Tottenham in 2007 as a trainer, has seen his stocks rise, making him one of the best in the position in England just in his first season of being a regular. He has a deal with the North London side until 2019.
But his buyout clause of 10 million pounds won’t be hard to activate by Chelsea, or Manchester City, who are also interested in his services. With Champions League action guaranteed at either of these club next season, he could be tempted to leave. But first team action won’t come on a platter of gold, and that could make him consider his options carefully. Chelsea are however favorites, and it will be interesting to see how far they go in the pursuit of Rose. And as they are in dire need of a backup left back, they could force a move through.
He doesn’t have a £10m buyout clause and Spurs didn’t edge past Chelsea they squarely thumped them with consolation goals giving a hint of respectability.
