According to a report by daily mail, former Arsenal and Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor is “craving” for a move to Chelsea. According to the paper, the player is only prepared to leave Tottenham for Chelsea or back to Real Madrid where he had a 6 months loan spell in 2013.
The former Togolese international has become almost a forgotten man at Tottenham. He has only mustered a total of 12 appearances for Tottenham so far this season. To put his season in perspective, he only has two league appearances so far in 2015 while the last start handed to him was in Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa way back in November 2014.
The emergency of Harry Kane has ensured Adebayo has fallen further behind in the pecking order at Tottenham under manager Mauricio Pochettino. According to dailymail, the player has told those who are close to him that he will only leave Tottenham if either of Real Madrid or Chelsea want him. According to the paper, the player has always “craved” for a move to Chelsea.
However, it must be pointed out that although Jose Mourinho seem to like the player ( hence he signed him on loan when he was still Real Madrid’s manager ) it is highly unlikely to see the Portugese sanctioning a move for Adebayor at the age of 31 and with his form in recent time so poor.
Chelsea would probably have moved for him if they were West Ham who do not have the money to buy a better striker in the summer but Chelsea as we all know have the money to acquire a world class striker in the summer should Jose Mourinho feel the need for one.
Despite having a very good shot accuracy that stands at 67%, Adebayor needs to be told to stop day dreaming, Chelsea is not at his level and the earlier he realised this the better for his dying career.
