If the rumours are to believed, a shock deal is in the offing at Stamford Bridge. It is being reported that Chelsea are about to sign former Arsenal striker, Emmanuel Adebayor. Though the striker is also negotiating with fellow London clubs, West Ham United and Watford, the blues see him as a short term solution that can be useful in their attempt to recover from their dreadful start before they go for their big targets in the summer.
The blues strike force made up of Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao have been anything but impressive as they have only five league goals among themselves. It is hard to understand the link to Watford though, as the London side have got a strike force that is tearing apart premier league defenders week after week.
The duo of captain Troy Deeney and Nigerian International Odion Ighalo have flourished under new coach, Quique Sanchez Flores and have scored seventeen goals between them. It’s hard to see where the Togolese will fit in. West Ham United have a very similar player to Adebayor on their books in English man, Andy Carroll.
Adebayor, who can count among his former clubs, Man City, Real Madrid and Tottenham has been spending time in his native Togo and Accra, Ghana where he has a home since he was released by Spurs. If the deal to Chelsea materializes, he will join former French international defender, William Gallas as one of the players to have played for Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspurs, the three biggest clubs in London.
