Dominic Ayodele Solanke-Mitchell may only be 17 years old, but he is already achieving feats footballers of his age hardly achieves. The Chelsea under-21 forward netted his 36th goal of the season against Southampton on Thursday, a match they won 2 goals to 0. A delighted-Solanke took to twitter to express the news.

”Good win away to Southampton. 5 games left to fight for the U21 title. Nice to get another goal as well”

He has been on top form for the youth team in the youth Premier League and Champions league. Such a player is definitely the future star of any senior team he graduates into. The Anglo-Nigerian striker of a player is so versatile on the field of play that he can play as a winger on both wings, and also as an attacking midfielder. The teenage football prodigy is one that could save Chelsea a whole lot of money and stress in the nearest future. He has attracted a whole lot of praises from legends, most recently Manchester United’s Paul Scholes. Scholes was of the opinion that the head coach of the Chelsea senior team will give chances to youngsters in the youth team, especially the likes of Solanke. The Red Devil legend was watching when the Chelsea under-21 beat Manchester City in the FA Youth Cup final. Of Solanke’s quality, he says;

“Watching the FA Youth Cup final second leg I was really impressed with the front three of Dominic Solanke, Isaiah Brown and Tammy Abraham, but especially Solanke and Brown. Solanke is only 17, so time is on his side, but he is not the only one. The standard was so high. There are more who I could imagine playing for Chelsea’s first team at some point”

During the 2013–14 season, Solanke scored 20 goals in 25 games for Chelsea youth team. He took this form into this season, and has been key in the team. Scholes hopes the special one can make room for players like Solanke, who will no doubt be an expensive player when he comes of age. Chelsea can’t afford to lose such a jewel.
